Formed in 1974, Land Concern, Ltd. has grown to become one of the premier landscape architecture and planning firms in Southern California. This award winning company is renowned for its experience with master-planned communities as well as a variety of other projects ranging from resorts and hotels to commercial centers and model home complexes. Their client base extends throughout the United States, Mexico, and select locations world wide.

Led by Rob Sawyer and Mike Imlay, along with Andy Bowden and Mike Sweeney, all veterans in the landscape industry, Land Concern, Ltd. boasts a staff of experienced landscape designers and technical experts who are highly regarded for their design savvy and earthscape solutions. Working closely with Water Concern, Ltd., their premier irrigation consultants, Land Concern, Ltd. is poised on the cutting edge of design and irrigation technology at a time when budget and conservation solutions are increasingly crucial to the overall success of landscape architecture planning.

The principals of Land Concern take an active role in each and every project from conception and design through construction and completion. Their skills and insights combined with those of an impressive staff of landscape planning professionals, the latest technology, a strong emphasis on team effort, and a commitment to excellence, produce environmental solutions that are dynamic, innovative, and people-oriented.

Rob Sawyer has been the foundation of Land Concern since its inception over 30 years ago. A recipient of the Sales and Marketing Council's prestigious Max Tipton Award, Rob is highly regarded by many in his profession and known for his level-headed approach to landscape architecture and planning solutions. His hands-on management style has resulted in the development of several key leaders among his staff of nearly 40 individuals, and his contributions to each project have helped to maintain Land Concern's reputation as a progressive leader in the industry.

A licensed Landscape Architect in California, Arizona, Utah, and Nevada, Rob is a graduate of Cal Poly Pomona's Landscape Architecture program. He maintains active memberships with the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Building Industry Association, and the Sales & Marketing Council, and he serves as a member of the Home Builders Council and the Board of Directors of the Landscape Architecture Foundation. Rob is co-founder of the C.L.A.S.S. Fund Scholarship Committee and continues to be a part of the Orange Coast College Advisory Committee. .

Rob Sawyer, Principal

Mike Imlay has been the creative force behind Land Concern's innovative design solutions since partnering with Rob Sawyer nearly 30 years ago. Possessing a keen sense of style and a sharp eye for detail, Mike's collaborations with his team leaders have helped to create a number of award winning landscape designs. He served as Chairman of the Architectural Review Board and Planning Commission for the City of San Juan Capistrano for a number of years, and continues to lend his support to select City projects. Mike is committed to ensuring that Land Concern's finished products reflect a healthy regard for architectural disciplines and a real understanding of exterior environmental history and trends.

Mike is a graduate of Cal Poly Pomona's Landscape Architecture program and is a registered Landscape Architect in California, Arizona, and Texas. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the American Society of Landscape Architects, and an affiliate of the American Institute of Architects of the American Architectural Foundation. He continues to be a part of the Building Industry Association, the Sales and Marketing Council, and the Home Builders Council, and remains an active contributor to the C.L.A.S.S. Fund Scholarship Committee. .

Andy Bowden has been a steadfast contributor to Land Concern's success over the course of his more than 25 years with the Company. As a team leader known for his ability to handle some of the most challenging of projects, he has earned the respect of many in the profession. Andy's innovative design solutions have been brought to a variety of noteworthy projects ranging from large scale master-planned communities, swim facilities, and recreation centers to apartment and townhome developments and model home complexes.

A licensed Landscape Architect and graduate of Cal Poly Pomona, Andy contributes much of his free time to many worthwhile organizations. He serves as an active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Sales and Marketing Council, and the Building Industry Association, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Landscape Architecture Foundation / C.L.A.S.S. Fund Scholarship Committee. Andy is a qualified guest lecturer at several colleges and universities, and continues to involve himself in activities that further the education and understanding of landscape architecture.

Mike Sweeney has been an active leader in the area of Master-planned Community design for Land Concern for the last several years. Having successfully contributed to all aspects of landscape design and development since starting with the Company over 23 years ago, Mike is highly regarded for his ability to oversee the largest of projects in a straightforward and efficient manner. Managing a team of as many as ten individuals from student draftsman to project manager, Mike is an active participant in each of his projects, dealing as effectively with design, construction, and administration as with state and local municipalities.

Mike is a graduate of Cal Poly Pomona's Landscape Architecture program and is a registered Landscape Architect in the State of California. He is an active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and has contributed to several crucial environmental projects in Southern California.
